Valeska Figeroa
Ríos to Rivers Chile Board Member
Valeska is Lafken Mapuche from Coronel, Chile. She currently lives in Ralco, Alto Biobío. She arrived to Alto Biobío because she always wanted to know the origin of the Biobío River, which she used to cross since she was little in her Coronel-Concepción busses.
She did not know the dams; seeing for the first time the curtain of the Angostura power plant, it appeared as a terrifying giant of metal and cement, she understood the change in the flow of the great Biobío River when she was crossing by train looking towards the mouth of Concepción
In Ralco she met Ríos to Rivers and is currently part of our family, she is an activist for free rivers, a member of the Network for the defense of the Queuco River, part of the staff of the Biobío Vive River Festival and has been a key leader in our exchanges' 'Intercuencas'' in the Ñuble and Biobío Rivers in Chile, the exchange in the Klamath and Elwha Rivers in the US, exchange for the Peoples Summit (COP25) and in the Santa Cruz River exchange in Patagonia Argentina.
